Archaeological heritage

The island’s archaeological heritage consists of 10 fortifications, the largest of these being the Fort Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, the largest fortification of all the 18 century defensive system implemented by the Portuguese. This fort was built on the fort of primitive Dutch redoubt, erected in 1629. It has been used as both a common and political prison and housed soldiers during World War II.

Diving

The main and most beautiful marine park in Brazil is considered one of the best places in the world for diving. In Noronha, in general, you can enjoy visibility of up to 50 metres. The diversity of diving points allows companies to offer tour options for all diving levels, from expert to inexperienced, even "baptising" new divers.

For beginners, Siesta Bay is the most protected archipelago and presents several sub-aquatic environments at 5 metres deep.  Full of fire corals and coloured fish, it is ideal for free-diving.

Nightlife

The nights are usually quiet, but some bars offer live music. The most typical night consists of dancing forró with native people at Bar do Cachorro (take the shuttle bus and dance forró until 4 am), right after the IBAMA meeting.
